What is the reason of the name "one over zero" or 1/0?

The term singularity comes from the mathematical function of 1/x - as x approaches zero linearly, the result of the function approaches infinity at an ever increasing rate, what is called a vertical asymptote. The point when x = 0 is the singularity, something which is not valid in mathematical terms. When discussing the technological singularity, this is the kind of curve that is seen if we plot the advancement of science and technology over time, the main question being if the trend will change or not, and the consequences.

But will the Singularity happen?

That's one of the discussions to be had, nothing is certain. We're not predicting the future, we're just talking about the several possible "what if" scenarios.

Are you all crazy?

Yes. But mostly harmless.
